Celebrating a Centennial Milestone

The Rotary Club of Plattsburgh to Celebrate 100 Years with Dinner, March 14

PLATTSBURGH, NY __ In March 1926, twenty outstanding members of the Plattsburgh community met to formally establish the first local club under the banner of Rotary International. Little did the club’s charter members anticipate that this small but energetic service organization would become well-known for its wide variety of local, national and international charitable works and projects.

This year, the Rotary Club of Plattsburgh, more commonly known as Noon Rotary, continues its 100th year of fundraising efforts benefitting many North Country citizens and other people in hundreds of countries around the world. To recognize its “Service Above Self” to the community, Rotarians and the public will gather Saturday, March 14, at the West Side Ballroom to celebrate the club’s centennial milestone.

Meet The Members

 Rachel-Maria Brown

Rachael-Maria Brown"I love being part of something that brings people together and makes a difference."
Rachel has made an impression. A very, very good impression. Since joining Rotary in July 2024, Rachel has given her all. She's volunteering for whatever she can, and she's doing it with a friendly smile and "we can do it" nature. What's really cool about Rachel is that she believes so much in the spirit of volunteerism, she has been passing that passion on down to her kids. "I'm truly proud of my involvement in community events - especially when I get to volunteer alongside my kids."
Rachel's a go-getter, and we'll be seeing a lot more of her in the years ahead...and we're looking forward to it.

The Monopole Adorns Ninth Rotary Holiday Tree Ornament

A ninth limited edition tree ornament depicting another local landmark is now available from the Rotary Club of Plattsburgh. This year's three-inch ornament features on the front side a rendering of the famous Monopole Tavern and Restaurant. On the reverse side of the ornament is a description of the seasonal restaurant, which reads "The Monopole Tavern and Restaurant on Protection Avenue is the oldest continuing commercial establishment in downtown Plattsburgh and a rite of passage!"

The porcelain ornament is delicately trimmed in 22-karat gold and fired at 1400 degree for durability. Jody Maloy, co-chair of the Rotary club's ornament committee, said the tree ornaments continue the club’s emphasis on the rich history and beauty of the region.
