We are on our way to bringing some cheer into the lives of local seniors for the coming holiday season. The Rotary Club of Plattsburgh, in partnership with the Senior Citizens Council of Clinton County, Joint Council for Economic Opportunity, Valehaven, Meadowbrook, CVPH Skilled Nursing Facility, Plattsburgh Rehab and Nursing, Clinton County Nursing Home, Pine Harbour Assisted Living, Vilas Home and the Champlain Valley Senior Community, has collected more than 2,400 holiday cards for local seniors in area nursing facilities. That's more than double the cards requested. (Updated 2:00 p.m., Dec. 11, 2020)
Laurin was hoping to receive 1,105 cards for nursing facility clients, but now believes they will be able to give two cards per person when they are delivered the weekend of Dec. 11 - 14. "Thank you to everybody who made cards, and/or organized efforts to get them. This was a really great."
ALSO:
If anyone is interested in purchasing items for the nursing homes, centers etc. there are several things desired. Meadowbrook has provided a wish list of items (see below) and Pine Harbour is seeking winter hats, gloves and scarves. If interested in donating any of these items, please have items shipped or delivered directly to the locations per their guidelines and contact them directly with any questions you may have regarding donations.
