March is designated as Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) Month in the Rotary International calendar. The Rotary clubs of Managua, Bergen-Highlands-Ramsey (N.J.), and Plattsburgh obtained a Rotary Foundation Global Grant to construct 204 latrines during 2008 - 2010. These latrines improved the health of people who desperately needed basic necessities and assistance.
