DID YOU KNOW?

Annually, Rotary recognizes six of its members and program participants age 30 and under as Rotary People of Action: ‘Champions of Tomorrow’. This week we meet:

Raymond “Arky” Manning (Philippines) – A Rotary member, law student, and local elected official in the Rizal province, Arky has transformed his community’s justice system to be more innovative, economical, and inclusive through leadership of a reform initiative and is reshaping the system into a body where youth are valued stakeholders in conflict resolution.

Maria Manuela Córdoba Aguirre (Colombia) – A Rotary member and founder of Rotary en Señas (Rotary in Sign Language), Maria’s initiative brings young Rotary members and deaf youth together to develop communication and leadership skills through workshops and regular activities. Deaf participants become program facilitators and leaders while hearing volunteers gain proficiency in sign language and collaboration.

Paul Harris Deadline May 13

The Paul Harris Fellow recognition was named for the founder of Rotary. It is the highest honor a Rotary club can bestow on a person, either inside or outside the club and acknowledges "service above self," which that individual or organization has offered to their community, their nation or to the world.

Each year our club honors individuals as Paul Harris Fellows and we are currently seeking nominations.  More info about the recognition, a list of past honorees and the nomination form can be found on our website.

Submit nomination forms by May 13 to Nicole Laurin by email or in person.

Our Club has a tradition of Highway clean up.  Be part of the crew and see what mysterious items you can find along the highway.  Join fellow Rotarians on May 16 at 11am.  We'll meet in the parking lot outside of Hobby Lobby and carpool to the stretch of I-87 we are assigned to. Newest Rotarians

Welcome to our new Rotary Club of Plattsburgh members.

Chris Favreau was re‑inducted into the Rotary Club of Plattsburgh at the April 1 meeting. A former member for several years, Chris is a firefighter with the Plattsburgh International Airport Fire Department. He left the club in 2025 to pursue firefighting; after completing his training his work schedule previously prevented him from attending Wednesday noon meetings. With his schedule now changed, he has rejoined the club and is ready to “do anything and everything I did previously — and more — if needed for Rotary.” His sponsor is Steve Kende.

Christine Peters was inducted on April 8, 2026.  Christine is the County Administrator for our Clinton County Government. She remains actively engaged in community service through board leadership and civic involvement with the Clinton County Industrial Development Agency, Apple Valley Senior Housing, Evergreen Townhouse Community, University of Vermont Health Network Board of Trustees and the Clinton County Bar Association.   Christine is sponsored by Molly Ryan.
