DID YOU KNOW…

Polio, or poliomyelitis, is a paralyzing and potentially deadly infectious disease that most commonly affects children under the age of five. The virus spreads from person to person, typically through contaminated water. It can then attack the nervous system. Rotary has been working to eradicate polio for more than 45 years starting with its first polio project vaccinating children in the Philippines in 1979.

Nu Digital Gate Mentorship Project:

What the $125 mentor sponsorship supports

A $125 mentor sponsorship opens the Nu Digital Gate mentor pathway for one African educator. It carries that educator through the whole journey — onboarding, the structured training pathway, verification, the mentor-readiness process, and the citizenship interview — and gives the sponsor ongoing visibility into that journey through a Sponsor Impact Dashboard. It funds one educator from first enrollment to becoming a recognized, active NDG mentor.

How the $500 matching model works

The Club's $500 is treated as a single matching pool — released once, in full.

A Rotarian half-sponsorship is $62.50, and the Club's $500 can match eight of them:

8 Rotarians × $62.50 = $500+ the Club's $500 match = $1,000 total

$1,000 ÷ $125 = 8 complete mentor sponsorships

So the Club's single $500 decision, matched by eight Rotarians giving $62.50 each, unlocks eight full mentors — double the reach of the $500 on its own.

Dashboard Visible and Informative

Can a $62.50 half-sponsorship receive a dashboard? Yes. Every $62.50 participant gets their own Sponsor Impact Dashboard. A half-sponsorship is "recognized" right away, and the mentor sponsorship "activates" once the full $125 is completed — either by the Club's match or by a second Rotarian.

There are three simple states a sponsor might see:

"Rotary Club-Matched" (their half completed by the Club pool), "Shared" (paired with another Rotarian's half), or "Reserved — awaiting match" (safely held and recognized until a matching half arrives). No one is ever lost, and no half-sponsor disappears into a general pool. The dashboard can also show the sponsored mentor's verified lifetime mentoring activity and lifetime mentor earnings after graduation, where applicable, so sponsors can see continuing impact beyond the initial sponsorship.

The dashboard visibility can operate at two levels. Each participating Rotarian receives their own Sponsor Impact Dashboard, whether they sponsor a full mentor, participate in the $62.50 match, share a sponsorship with another Rotarian or sponsor multiple mentors.

At the same time, the Rotary Club can have a Club-level dashboard showing live 24/7 visibility into the Club's direct $500 matched impact, the additional impact created by individual Rotarians and the total Rotary Club impact.

Let’s Have Some Fun & Raise Money for the Rotary Foundation!

We’re launching a new club fundraiser to support the Rotary Foundation!

What is the Rotary Foundation? The Rotary Foundation is Rotary International’s charitable arm, turning Rotarian contributions into projects that promote peace, fight disease, provide clean water, support education, and strengthen communities around the world.

To raise funds, our club will be collecting donated items from Rotarians to auction or raffle off during upcoming meetings. Depending on the item’s value and the time available, we might hold a live auction, silent auction, or offer chances to win. We’d like to mix it up and try a few different things along the way!

What can you donate? Almost anything that might be fun or valuable to a fellow Rotarian—company swag, gift certificates, themed baskets, homemade goodies or crafts, services, experiences, or something unique you think others would enjoy.

Have an item to donate—or a creative idea for the fundraiser? Contact Nicole Laurin with your donations and suggestions.

Let’s have some fun, create a little friendly competition, and most importantly, raise some money for the Rotary Foundation!
