Rotary Club of Plattsburgh

Club Reminders & Updates

Accessibility Ramp

Your help is needed for a community service project.  The Club has committed to building an accessibility ramp for a local community member to get in and out of their home.  If you can help out on Sunday, December 9th, the work will start at 9 a.m. at the home on Wallace Hill Road.  Please contact Ryan Lee or sign up at the next Rotary meeting.  Specific location details will be communicated with volunteers after you sign up.

Rotary Foundation

"Brown" envelopes have been passed out for the Annual Rotary Foundation Collection.  We are looking for 100% participation and December 5 wraps up the collection period.  Please place something, any amount, in the envelope and return to Steve Frederick or Tony Searing.  The Rotary Foundation helps people all over the world, including many projects we have sponsored over the years.  Even just $1 will help Steve accomplish his collection goal.  The Foundation Contributions are at 51% to date.

Holiday Ornaments for Sale

Don't miss out on the purchase of this year's Rotary Club ornament of the Old Stone Barracks.  You can purchase an ornament for $20 at an upcoming Rotary meeting, or at the United Way office, the Senior Citizens Council, Ufirst Federal Credit Union (Rugar Street) or the two Dannemora Federal Credit Union locations (344 Tom Miller Road and 122 New York Road).

A limited number of full sets of the five ornaments – Bluff Point Lighthouse (2014), AuSable Chasm (2015), Macdonough Monument (2016), Plattsburgh Train Station (2017), and Old Stone Barracks (2018) – are available for sale at $90 for the set. There are also a limited number of the other ornaments available for purchase. They are also $20 per ornament.

Holiday Meals

In partnership with JCEO, you can sign up to provide the ingredients for a holiday meal to a local family in need.  If you choose to participate, you will receive the name of the family and their contact information.  You will purchase all of the food necessary for the family to prepare a holiday meal.  For more information and to sign up, contact Bob Parks at an upcoming meeting or at bob.parks2016@gmail.com

Gifts for Kids

Our Club is partnering with the Christmas Bureau this year to provide toys for local children.  Index cards with children's wishes are being passed around at the meeting.  Please consider taking a card or cards to help out.  Gifts are due at the December 12th Club meeting.  Please tape the index card to the gift and do NOT wrap the item.

Make Up Time Extended

The time to allow for a make up when a meeting is missed has been extended to an 18 day period directly before or after the missed meeting.  Contact Anne Cutaiar or Carmen Carpentier with meeting make up information.

There will not be a Regular Rotary Club Meeting on December 26th.

Youth Exchange - Shelley Fracalossi is looking for host families in the Beekmantown and Peru School Districts for next year.  Prefer a family that has children already attending school.  She needs to find two families from each school district ASAP.
