President’s Message

Welcome to the Plattsburgh Rotary Club Website, and let me tell you a little about our Club.

The Plattsburgh Rotary Club is one of 65 clubs within Rotary District 7040, which encompasses Northern New York and Southern Quebec. While the majority of the clubs have less than 25 members, the Plattsburgh Rotary Club is one of the five largest clubs in the district with over 100 members.

D.K. Lee, President of Rotary International, has a simple but important goal for his presidency this year (2008-09): Make Dreams Real.  We all have dreams, but unfortunately, too many people around the work don’t dream anymore.  As Rotarians, we can make dreams real again.

Since its formation on April 1, 1926, the Plattsburgh Rotary Club has endeavored to service the local and international communities. The Club does this through many forms. For instance, the Club provides financial support for Rotary International’s PolioPlus Program, grants to various community service organizations, and construction of pit privies in Nicaragua.

To support these efforts, the Club undertakes numerous fundraising efforts such as the annual Rotary Fishing Classic on Lake Champlain, Rotary Radio Day and Roducky Derby. These events would not happen without the support of so many members within the Club. 

The Plattsburgh Rotary Club meets every Wednesday at noon at the Elk’s Lodge on Cumberland Avenue. During our meetings, which last until 1:30 p.m., invited speakers discuss important topics effecting our community, state, nation and world.  During our meetings, we also have the opportunity to learn about each other and events that are shaping the community around us.
